Capula, part of the Imtech Group, has been selected to deliver a fully integrated control solution for another project of strategic importance to Sellafield Ltd. The Box Encapsulation Plant Delivery Team (BEPDT), responsible for this project comprise joint venture partners Balfour Beatty, Jacobs Engineering Group and Amec Foster Wheeler.
The Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) is a significant enabler to the High Hazard Risk Reduction of legacy ponds and silos at Sellafield. When complete the plant will process nuclear waste in preparation for long term storage.
Capula will provide a fully integrated control solution for the BEP facility that will enable essential data from multiple systems to be gathered and presented in a coherent manner to the operator, thus ensuring the safe operation of the plant and facilitating ease of maintenance.
“We are delighted to have been selected by BEPDT to work on this project as we strive to be considered a ‘safe pair of hands’ by our clients,” said Capula’s Managing Director, Mark Hardy. “We look forward to further developing our long-term relationship with Sellafield Ltd and supporting them, together with BEPDT, in delivering this significant nuclear waste management initiative in line with their long-term decommissioning strategy.”
The full control solution is expected to be completed in early 2019, and will enable Sellafield Ltd to maintain the safe operation of the BEP facility once operational in 2021.
