Summary of Role:

Working within Capula’s successful and expanding Business Development department as part of the Bid Support team, who provide technical and commercial PLC/SCADA and DCS solution support to our sales staff. The preferred candidate for this specific role will ideally bring nuclear expertise to the team although experience in Capula’s other business sectors such as defence, power generation, water utilities or National Grid transmission & distribution experience will also be considered.

Day-to-day activities of the Bid Support function depends on the specific sales opportunities and their lifecycle. This includes providing the bid lead role or liaising with the bid lead, sector head on the opportunity. This will include sales strategy; completing pre-qualification or proposal documentation; identifying and detailing solutions to address client needs; preparing cost estimate information; and answering client questions. In addition knowledge/experience of different PLC/SCADA or DCS technology architectures together with design, implementation, testing, site installation and commissioning of these systems is desirable. The ability to interpret the client’s requirements, produce subcontract specification requirements and identifying suitable subcontract suppliers when required would be useful. A reasonable amount of travel to customer or supplier sites is expected, either attending with the relevant sales lead, other BDEs or on your own.

A successful candidate shall be technically knowledgeable and experienced from either a software or hardware background in a solution delivery or sales environment.

Role Description:

  • The candidate will be given training to specialise in a particular business sector based on their experience and knowledge; however you will be expected to work across all the business sectors. This allows experience and knowledge from one sector to be transferred to another which can offer advantages during the tendering phase
  • Be responsible for own bid support activities whilst working with sales people on specific opportunities. This may include meeting with our clients and prospects to understand their needs and demonstrate market/technical expertise as part of a bid process
  • Working collaboratively within the team to help drive sales growth through involvement in complex propositions and bids
  • Potential involvement in research and development activities related to specific propositions and solutions. This also includes maintaining strong relationships with Alliance partners
  • Being an active member of a flourishing business development team in a growing business – contributing new ideas, enthusiasm and collaboration across the team in order to drive further growth
  • Liaising with 3rd party suppliers, producing Subcon specifications for them to quote against and reviewing their tender returns for compliance and value
  • Carry out surveys on client sites as required to identify scope, scale, implementation philosophies, etc

Required Experience:

  • A broad C&I Engineering background
  • Experience in producing and managing proposals for multidiscipline complex turnkey C&I solutions
  • Experience in effective time management to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in dealing with suppliers to design complex Architectures and solutions
  • LV Switchgear, Motor Control Centres, electrical/electronic systems and cabling would be useful
  • Knowledge or awareness of Safety Related Systems to IEC 61508
  • You must have the ability and experience to identifying key critical issues when providing solutions as part of the proposal
  • Experience in working closely within a sales team, and the knowledge of how to reflect a developed sales strategy in a proposal would be useful
