Capula provides PI training to Centrica

Centrica is a leading integrated energy company, securing and supplying gas and electricity for millions of home and businesses across the UK, North America and Europe, employing more than 32,000 staff. The company's core retail business units include British Gas, Direct Energy, Luminus, and Centrica Energy.
As part of our ongoing relationship with Centrica, we recently conducted a review of all critical Business Systems across their fleet of CCGT Power Stations, resulting in the recommendation of a three-year programme of business capability improvements.
Being an independent system integrator, Capula has developed links with a number of best-in-breed technology suppliers. One of our key suppliers is OSIsoft who deliver the PI system, described as the industry standard in enterprise infrastructure for management of time-series data and events.
The PI System brings all operational data into a single system and presents that data to users at all levels of the company, from the plant floor to the boardroom. It keeps business-critical data always online and available in a specialised time-series database. In doing so, it enables management to react quicker to developments at plant level and increase efficiency levels accordingly.
As a first step along the programme of business capability improvements Centrica have engaged Capula to provide a series of PI training courses across all of their Generation fleet for approximately 200 persons. The courses range from basic PI User Courses to PI System Manager Advanced Courses, and are scheduled to take place between June 2009 and Spring 2010.
