Capula control system for Lynemouth
23 Jun 2010
Capula have been awarded a contract with Rio Tinto Alcan for the provision of a new control system at their Lynemouth power station.
The station comprises three 140MW coal-fired units, with each unit supplied by four Pulverized Fuel coal mills.
The new control system - expected to be operational by Autumn 2010 - will make use of Rockwell Automation's ControlLogix & iFix SCADA, and will deliver improved operational efficiency of the mills, which in turn will help lower the emissions of the station.
The contract follows swiftly from the recent renewal of a long-term support agreement between Capula & Rio Tinto Alcan for the modernisation of the substation control system at Lynemouth.
"Capula has enjoyed a good working relationship with Rio Tinto Alcan for many years," said Capula Chief Executive Roger Turner, "We are familiar with Lynemouth's existing systems and our proven track record in delivery made us a strong candidate for this project."
