Capula in the community - 2010 round-up
15 Dec 2010
It's been another busy year for Capula, on both projects and in our community & charity efforts.
Company-wide our staff have been keen participants in fundraising activities for numerous causes, including Jeans for Genes, Children in Need, Wear it Pink, Sports Relief and Cancer Research UK (via a team of cyclists who raised over £5,000 while attempting the Lands End to John O'Groats end-to-end journey inside 10 days while also completing the Three Peaks Challenge in the process).
Extending our support beyond twenty years, Capula was again the main sponsor of the Stone Town Bonfire & Fireworks Display, held at Westbridge Park in Stone, Staffordshire. As in 2009, our involvement included a contribution to the nominated charity for the year, as well as leading the design and marketing for one of the highlights of the local calendar.
Capula has also renewed our support of the charity golf days hosted by both Fiddler's Ferry and Drax power stations. Over the years, Fiddler's Ferry's golf day events have raised almost £200k for their nominated charities, who this year were Zoe's Place Children's Hospice, St Rocco's Hospice & Halton Haven Hospice. The golf day hosted by Drax Power raised more than £9,000 towards Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
In Cumbria, Capula have sponsored a barrel at the Cockermouth Round Table Beer Festival for the second year running, following the success of 2009's event. Meanwhile, in Cheshire, Capula made a significant donation to Heath Athletic Junior Football Club to help towards the cost of buying kit and training equipment.
Speaking on behalf of Capula, Business Development Director Simon Coombs said "It's important for Capula to not only support our local communities wherever possible through our Corporate Social Responsibility plans, but to support our clients in theirs too. Our sponsorship of the Stone Town Bonfire & Fireworks Display is longstanding, as is our involvement with the golf days arranged by Fiddler's Ferry and Drax Power. As a company we are keen to contribute to our local areas of work, and this isn't limited to our premises, but our work on-site too."
