Capula signs multi-year support agreement with Drax Power
03 Nov 2010
Capula is delighted to have been awarded a five year support contract to support all of the key process control systems at Drax Power Station.
The largest, cleanest and most efficient coal-fired power station in the UK, Drax Power Station has six 660MW-generating units, which at current output levels produce around 7% of the UK's total requirements.
The support contract is an extension of a previous contract which ran for around eight years, and in which Capula has provided support to all of the key process control systems installed by Capula at Drax Power Station over the last decade.
The new contract expands the scope to include all new major systems on the site, such as the six generation units control and protection systems, Water Treatment Plant controls & instrumentation, Common Services plant automation systems, Coal & Ash Handling plant systems, Biomass Rail Unloading and Direct Injection systems, and the Biomass Rail unloading systems.
The scope of Capula's support includes hardware and software support of the computer-based platforms used on these systems. We have a dedicated team of system support engineers who provide this support and are on call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Normal and emergency call out facilities are included in this contract.
The support offered enables Drax Power to ensure availability of these mission critical systems at all times.
"Drax Power has been a key client of Capula's for many years, and we have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with them across numerous important projects," commented Capula Chief Executive Roger Turner, "Capula provides quality support on many of our projects and it speaks highly of the service we offer that Drax Power have chosen to extend this for a further five years."
