Energy monitoring system for Thames Water
12 Jun 2010
Capula is pleased to have recently been awarded a contract with Thames Water via SKM Enviros to make modifications to their existing systems to provide real-time energy monitoring for three of their pilot Water Treatment sites in Hampton, Kempton & Swindon.
Thames Water is the largest Water and Sewage Company in the UK, serving more than 13 million customers across London and the Thames Valley, and is currently seeking to reduce its energy consumption across its portfolio of sites. This is to be achieved via the implementation of a monitoring and targeting strategy supported by sub metering of individual plant and processes.
The Capula solution will be a two-tier system that will collect real time power consumption information from newly installed and existing meters, linked in directly to the SCADA system used to control the operation of its plant and processes. It will enable Thames Water to collect, analyse, record and display energy consumption, indicating asset performance against targets in real time.
"We are pleased to have been awarded this project," said Capula Chief Executive Roger Turner, "It not only speaks volumes of our track record with Thames Water, but also demonstrates our ability to add value to partnerships by working directly with a main contractor."
