Capula solution delivered at waste treatment plants

14 Jul 2011

Capula has completed commissioning control system solutions on behalf of Global Renewables Lancashire at their two Mechanical Biological Treatment waste processing facilities in Farington and Thornton.

Completion of the sites will see the county become one of the leading areas for environmentally friendly waste management in Europe, and the effective function of the sites is underpinned by the Capula control system based on Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA. As well as providing a graphical overview of the whole waste treatment process, all plant data is logged and stored for retrieval and analysis, assisting in plant performance optimisation.

“This is a real flagship waste management project for Europe; utilising state-of-the-art technology throughout the facility,” said Capula’s Business Development Director Simon Coombs, “Our control system provides a modern and flexible solution using technology to enable effective control of the plant whilst facilitating ease of maintenance.”

As part of the contract, Capula is providing a 24 month warranty and long term support to ensure the effective running of the plant.
