Key role for Capula at gasification plant
10 Jan 2012
Capula has won a contract with MITIE Infrastructure Ltd for the installation and integration of a control solution at their new energy from waste gasification plant in Plymouth, Devon. Waste wood that would otherwise go to landfill will be re-directed to and processed by the plant.
Using a process called pyrolysis, the waste wood will be used to provide fuel to generate 4MW. The electricity and hot water is set to be used by a local company upon completion in September 2012.
Along with the control system based on Siemens PCS7, Capula will also provide electrical design and MCCs as part of the scope. In doing so, we will ensure optimal performance for the plant while lowering long term maintenance costs and supporting MITIE’s complete control philosophy.
“As the UK becomes increasingly focussed on sustainable energy solutions, we are seeing a growing trend for plants of this nature,” said Capula’s Business Development Director Simon Coombs, “and as with any business it’s important to ensure operational efficiency to support the viability of such plants. Capula are experts in this area, and we are pleased to be working with MITIE infrastructure Ltd on this project.”
