The PI Remote System Monitor (RSM) service provides an enhanced level of support to PI. It actively monitors and reports on the operating condition of the PI System software and the underlying operating system. The aim of the service is to identify current and future levels of system resource utilisation and any performance issues that may affect the integrity and availability of the PI System.

The service includes a monitoring agent that is installed on the PI Server. Tasks are scheduled to run periodically and the findings are reported back to the PI Customer System Manager.

The overall state of the PI System is monitored on a regular basis throughout the day and a summary report is compiled daily.
