Capula provides PI optimisation, design & development
Centrica is a leading integrated energy company, securing and supplying gas and electricity for millions of home and businesses across the UK, North America and Europe, employing more than 32,000 staff. The company's core retail business units include British Gas, Direct Energy, Luminus, and Centrica Energy.
As part of our ongoing relationship with Centrica, we recently conducted a review of all critical Business Systems across their fleet of CCGT Power Stations, resulting in the recommendation of a three year programme of business capability improvements.
One core element of this programme of business capability improvement is to optimise the use of the existing PI system infrastructure already in place across the fleet. Centrica wish to optimise the use of this infrastructure across the CCGT and Renewable assets to deliver portfolio wide improvements to compliance, performance and collaboration.
Being an independent system integrator, Capula has developed links with a number of best-in-breed technology suppliers. OSIsoft who provide the PI system, is one of our key suppliers is. The PI System brings all operational data into a single system and presents that data to users at all levels of the company, from the plant floor to the boardroom. It keeps business-critical data always online and available in a specialised time-series database. In doing so, it enables management to react quicker to developments at plant level and increase efficiency levels accordingly.
Under a framework agreement for Consultancy Services, Centrica have now engaged Capula to provide Project Management and Consultancy on the initial shaping and design stage for this critical programme. The initial stage will capture key business requirements for the full fleet of CCGT and Wind Farm assets and align these with the technical capabilities of the PI System and associated technologies.
