Thames Water contract for Capula
Capula Limited has been awarded a contract by Black & Veatch on behalf of Thames Water for the upgrade of the Walton Water Treatment Works in Walton-on-Thames.
Thames Water is the largest Water and Sewage Company in the UK, serving more than 13 million customers across London and the Thames Valley region and the Walton works are a critical part of the London water supply network.
As part of their 4th Asset Management Period (AMP4) programme of works, Thames Water continually assess and upgrade their sites, ensuring they meet customer needs as well as complying with the regulator OFWAT's standards.
Black & Veatch were successful in winning the project for the main works and, after discussion with Capula, chose us as their preferred Systems Integrator for this project. The work involves an upgrade to a number of existing PLCs in order to bring them in line with current technology, re-automating them in accordance with the original control philosophies and refurbish the top-end Real-time Application Platform (RTAP) SCADA system to bring it up to date with the PLCs. The project is set to be delivered over the course of a 12-month period.
"We are pleased to be starting our Thames Water framework agreement with some significant projects," said Simon Coombs, Business Development Director at Capula, "Our delivery expertise in RTAP is one reason why Thames Water chose Capula as a Systems Integrator and we look forward to delivering many more projects such as this over the coming AMP5 period."
