Capula has a Safety Management System that is based around the HSE's publication HSG65 Successful Health and Safety Management. The starting point is the company's health and safety policy statement, which sets out the arrangements for the effective management of health and safety, with particular reference to work on customer sites. This policy has been brought to the attention of all employees through the company's quality system and is revised on a regular basis. It recognises that health and safety is a major contributor to business performance and states that all risks must be effectively managed in order to reduce them to the lowest practicable level. Therefore, the policy deals with risk assessment by meeting the requirements of the 'Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999'.
The organisation within the company for dealing with health and safety issues is specified and roles are defined for the Managing Director (with overall control) down via management grades to employee level. The competence of employees is dealt with via the company selection procedures supported by training plans for individual employees in order to ensure continual professional development. This will also include health and safety training to meet the requirements of an employee's work and responsibilities.
