Capula, an Imtech company, was delighted to be named ‘Employer of the Year’ by Newcastle under Lyme College in Staffordshire at their recent Celebration Awards Night 2018 sponsored by Keele University.
Capula has very close links with the college where 12 apprentices and junior engineers are currently undertaking engineering training. Capula was instrumental in the college’s introduction of Higher apprenticeships in 2017 and the delivery of new apprenticeship standards in partnership with Staffordshire University, where many young Capula trainees progress to undertake further engineering training.
Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) said, “Capula is an incredibly strong supporter of NSCG and kindly facilitated the donation of specialist engineering equipment to our Newcastle College campus in January of this year. They continually offer outstanding encouragement and guidance, regularly supporting at employer events throughout the year, where they offer guidance to students and impart meaningful information about careers within engineering.”
She added: “We were so pleased to have announced Capula as our ‘Employer of the Year’ at this year’s Celebration Awards evening, recognising the outstanding encouragement and guidance they deliver to young engineers on their apprenticeship scheme and beyond.”
Capula also sponsored the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Engineering’ award category at the awards night which celebrated the achievements of exemplary students who have excelled in their field. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering student, Kacper Wojtala formerly of St. John Fisher Catholic College, received the Engineering award as he was not only the most successful student at Level 2, but achieved outstanding results whilst also honing his English language skills and completing an A level in Mathematics alongside his BTEC qualification. Kacper will progress to the University of Leeds in September to study Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering.
Steve Tellwright, HR Director at Capula commented, “Capula is committed to supporting Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group whenever and wherever possible and we hope that our already close relationship with the college, its leaders, lecturers and all the engineering and IT students continues to go from strength to strength. We are very pleased to be sponsoring the student engineering award as it demonstrates our commitment to recognising and rewarding student excellence in engineering in North Staffordshire.”
