Dave Pickles, Managing Director
Our history traces back more than forty years, during which time the company has existed in a number of guises.
Starting life as Instem, we originally provided automation systems to industrial and laboratory markets. Through the ’70s and ’80s we began providing industrial computer control systems and also manufactured some of our own hardware products. The ’90s brought with it a number of landmark power station control system refit and refurbishment projects following an increase in the use of automation in nuclear waste storage facilities.
Due to the technology advances at the turn of the century, Capula began implementing solutions to help businesses derive value from real-time business intelligence. This helped optimise plant performance while also delivering cost savings and helped our customers achieve environmental compliance targets. In addition, we began seeing value in the provision of 24×7 support contracts with key clients, notably National Grid and Drax Power, while site-wide automation, data analysis and reporting became increasingly important in the oil & gas markets.
